Phase 2: Open Access

Anticipating and Addressing Dilemmas:

  • Resistance to Adoption: Transparently working towards consensus and developing facilities such as templates to mitigate resistance due to increased workload.

  • Confidentiality Concerns: Developing clear guidelines and provisions for embargoed subsets of replication packages to address concerns over proprietary procedures.

  • Ownership Issues: Harmonizing practices with external academic partners and developing clear policies to address data ownership concerns stemming from collaborations.

  • IP Protection: Developing policies for delineating data embargo before embarking on Open Access to address concerns over IP protection.

  • Return on Investment: Emphasizing the utility of replication packages for enhancing internal processes and improving research quality to justify the investment of time and resources.

  • Diversity of Fields: Striking a balance between data diversity and uniformity of replication package structure to accommodate the varied types and quantity of data and standards/demands from relevant research communities.

Pilot Phase Implementation and Feedback:

  • Implementing pilot phases with clear definitions and seeking feedback from stakeholders to refine procedures and address challenges.

  • Conducting surveys and assessments to gauge the effectiveness and feasibility of implemented strategies and making necessary adjustments as needed.
